Another interesting week in the world of MTG Finance! So, just in time for FNM, I'll tell you what cards will be the talk of the town tonight.

Chalice of the Void has proven to be a versatile tech against many decks in both Legacy and Modern! It broke the $25 mark on tuesday, but fell down again the day after. And that is quite an accomplishment for a card that (almost) only sees play in sideboards. The card is hot in both Modern and Legacy. When you are on the play, or when you have land like City of Traitors at your disposal, you can land Chalice of the Void on your opponent's turn 1 or 0, blocking him from playing anything that costs 1 mana. So, say goodbye to brainstorm, ponder, swiftspear, delver, etc. etc.
On Sunday Orzhov Pontiff spiked hard and hit $19.99. But after that initial spike, it showed a hard decline. But still, it is now $8 above the price it held for a long period of time. And the reason is quite simple. A Melira-Pod deck won the Modern Grand Prix in Omaha on that same Sunday.
But, considering that most players run only 1 copy of Orzhov Pontiff in their main deck and 1 in their sideboards, a $20 price tag is a tad high. But considering it was printed in an 'older' set, you can expect the card to settle in around $10-$12. At least as long Pod-decks are popular (or legal).
When under pressure, chunks of coal turn into beautiful diamonds. This is not an inspirational quote. Well, it could be. But it is fitting for a card like Gilt-Leaf Archdruid. Just by itself it's a funny card, but where would you get all those druids? And are those druids good enough by themselves to win a game, even when you don't draw Gilt-Leaf Archdruid? Probably not.
But the printing of Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury upped the pressure. This planeswalker allows you to put druids on the table, while +2'ing it. And the last rule on this card explains it all: Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury can be your commander.
Cheap pickup of the week: Mutavault ($11.40) ALL TIME LOW
Mutavault has been the cheap pickup before, and it keeps showing up in my queries. I'm writing about the card again because Mutavault is really worth picking up. It is a good card with a lot of potential. It doesn't see a lot of competitive play right now. But the moment a Legacy/ Modern worthy Goblin, Merfolk, Elf, Faerie, Sliver or any new creature type is printed, Mutavault can spike again.
But, don't expect the same prices as before it was reprinted ($40). But I believe this card has the potential to become a $25-$30 card again.
