Everyone seems to be waiting for some more spoilers from Born of the Gods. There seems to be little change outside the eternal formats. And this week, EDH once again rings the bell.

#1 Nekusar, the Mindrazer ($4) BECAUSE HE'S COOL

Nekusar, the Mindrazer

I can't ignore him, since he's been rocking the market for the third consecutive week. Nekusar, the Mindrazer is hot as hell and he's pushing up another card this week!

Wheel of Fortune jumped +62.8% to $18.50 this week. And why? Guess! Nekusar, the Mindrazer! For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past month, Nekusar is the hottest commander in EDH, because you punish your opponents for a lot of stuff, like drawing cards.

Wheel of Fortune can be added to the list of cards that have spiked because of Nekusar. But be aware, the cards tend to lose value quickly after their initial spike, so don't be to hasty in buying the cards for top prices. Take a look for yourself:

Lets compare those cards mentioned above in one graph:

Maybe it's interesting to predict some other cards that might be going up the coming weeks, because of Nekusar, the Mindrazer. The general idea is to force your opponents to draw cards.

So if you want to beat the spike, these cards might prove interesting when you are considering a Nekusar deck:

Winds of Change

Winds of Change

Don't be fooled by the graph too much, the card is now $1 and has seen a $0.30 price increase over the past 12 months.

 Teferi's Puzzle Box

Teferi's Puzzle Box

TPB gives your opponents a lot of card advantage, they burn through their decks and are bound to find something to remove your Nekusar. But still, it's a wheel of fortune on a stick.

 Robber Fly Shocker

Robber Fly

$0.23

Shocker

$0.61

Just some creatures to fill the slots in the deck. Both had a large print run due to their rarity, especially available because EDH runs only 1 copy.

Incendiary Command

Incendiary Command

Meanwhile, I'm waiting to see another card in the deck spiking up, mentioned above or not. And I'm wondering if Nekusar himself will be increasing in price as well.

#2 Wasteland (+8.2%| $64.92) ALL TIME HIGH

Wasteland

Wasteland gained almost $5 in value in a week, but with no apparent reason. The card is played widely in many, many Legacy decks. It's one of Legacy's classics and still widely popular.

The price increase may be a market correction. The archetype Patriot is seeing more and more play, putting yet another deck in the top-8 which runs Wasteland. It's popular, demand is up, so market economics dictate a price increase.

#3 Mutavault (+5.3% | $30)

Mutavault

Mutavault is going steadily up. It's one of those cards that sees play in Legacy, Modern and Standard. After it's reprint in M14 the card was going down hard, but demand is back up, mainly because of the popular devotion decks in standard.

Mutavault sees play in several many decks:

  1. Mono Blue
  2. Mono Black
  3. Boros
  4. Azorius Control
  5. Orzhov Midrange
  6. Red deck wins

Also interesting!

More from Peter:

Just like last week, the Commander: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt spoilers are the main factor of influence on the markets this week. There are enough cards spoiled for the brewing to commence and we expect a lot more movement in the coming weeks!

Catalyst Stone Daybreak Ranger Oboro, Palace in the Clouds

Weekly Winners 2021 - 13

This week we saw a lot of interesting movement. Most of it caused by Strixhaven spoilers, but the old frame fetchlands spiked as well.

Chain of Smog Illumination Magma Sliver

Somewhat of an odd week. Not really any spikes that has one really obvious or notable reason and of course still a lot of older cards moving up.

Selective Memory Pearl Medallion Zombie Master

Weekly Winners 2021 - 08

The most interesting week in a long, long time! Maybe I'm a but biased due to my love for Legacy, but this week that format is the biggest driving factor behind the three weekly winners.

A strange and eventful week in the world of finance. Where you'd expect tons of cards to spike due to new brews, we mainly see a new hausse of reserved list cards being bought out. And also non-reserved list cards that happen to be MTG classics.
