Interests of 2014: Top lists

31 Dec
by Arjen

It's not often that I decide to actually post something read-worthy on MTGStocks. But, I had a small conversation on Twitter where people indicated that interests over an entire year is something they would love to see. This has led me to have a look into the database, and provide you with the top 250 largest risers and top 250 largest decliners over 2014.

Before I present you with the numbers, and the (way too large) tables, I will tell a little bit about how this data was deducted. I first checked, for every card, the price on January 1st 2014. If for some reason this price did not exist (for example cards that simply weren't printed yet), I took the first known price of that year. So, if for example, the first known price is in September (like a card from KTK), I used that one. Then I looked at the price of December 31st. If this price did not exist, I took the last price known in December. If that price is below $2.00, the card is too cheap to even consider.

From these differences, I created the following top 250 tables. However, I left out all sets that are excluded from the daily interests lists by default. Also I manually removed a few outliers, like basic lands.

The tables with the top risers and decliners of 2014 can be found here.

More from Arjen:

Weekly Winners 2023 - 37

This week all cards have been moving because of Wilds of Eldraine, with some new additions for constructed eternal formats.

Weekly Winners 2023 - 36

Wilds of Eldraine released on Arena last week and will be released on paper today. And cards are moving this week because of it!

Weekly Winners 2023 - 35

I would have expected some more Wilds of Eldraine spikes by now, but it all seems pretty quiet, except for one card! Yet, the Lord of the Rings cards are still moving up!

Weekly Winners 2023 - 34

A slow week. It seems people were mainly waiting for the previews from Wilds of Eldraine and holding off on buying cards. With the entire set now revealed, I expect next week to have more spikes.

Weekly Winners 2023 - 33

This week we have a card moving up because of Modern, the Commander Masters Eldrazi precon is still stirring things up, and there's a Secret Lair Angels deck!

Weekly Winners 2023 - 32

The recent unbannings have made sure that these cards are moving up. Plus, we'll discuss a new Legacy archetype, and a card that seems to be pretty powerful in Commander.

Weekly Winners 2023 - 31

Prices are moving because of the Pro Tour and the upcoming Universes Beyond: Doctor Who set. We also managed to find a Commander card!

Weekly Winners 2023 - 30

Of course cards are moving because of Lord of the Rings, but we have some interesting cards from several constructed formats as well.

Lorien RevealedShowdown of the SkaldsFlumph (Extended Art)

Weekly Winners 2023 - 29

One winner from Lord of the Rings, but the rest are moving because of Commander Masters.

Sauron\'s Ransom Ichormoon Gauntlet Sliver Hive

Weekly Winners 2023 - 28

Lord of the Rings keeps shaking up prices! The set is proving to be powerful, and we're seeing plenty of interactions with a lot of other cards.
