The first spoilers for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty are rolling in, and we definitely see some price movement because of this upcoming set. This week we see the main movement around the Samurai creature type. Further more we mainly see movement because of, of course, Commander.

Like every week, just in time for FNM, I'll now tell you about the cards that will be the talk of the town tonight!

Come discuss this week's price movements with us on Reddit.

#1 Samurai

Let's start by the Samurai creatures that have been going up the past week. Obviously this has to do with the new upcoming set Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Not a lot was known about this set, but the first information is trickling in and even the first spoilers have come out. And among the information are pictures of packaging and promotional posters like this one where we can clearly see a person in Samurai outfit. This has led to give credible evidence that Samurai will be features in this set.

Because of this, people have jumped on the wagon and gotten their copies of the more powerful and playable Samurai from the old Kamigawa sets with these four in particular:

Isao, Enlightened Bushi $26.99 (+1173%)
Isao, Enlightened Bushi

Oathkeeper, Takeno's Daisho $27.99 (+538%)
Oathkeeper, Takeno's Daisho

Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo $19.95 (+231%)
Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo

Konda, Lord of Eiganjo $7.98 (+62%)
Konda, Lord of Eiganjo

Isao, Enlightened Bushi can give regeneration shields to your Samurai, which is really powerful and will definitely see play in Samurai commander builds. But we also see Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo moving up. This one may have an other reason to spike. Last week some Kamigawa cards were leaked. They remain, thus-far, unconfirmed whether they're real, but one of them (supposedly called "Kyodai, Soul of Kamigawa") may play well with Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo. I will not link these leaks, but I assume you are capable of finding them yourself if you want to see them.

We still have to wait for the actual Samurai to be shown in the set, and to be fair we don't even know if any of these cards will be reprinted. But that hasn't stopped people from getting their copies and be either able to offload them later or to prepare for their Commander decks in the future.

Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo
Isao, Enlightened Bushi
Oathkeeper, Takeno's Daisho
Konda, Lord of Eiganjo

#2 March of Souls $10.99 (+281%)

March of Souls

This card is a Rare sorcery from Planeshift and has not been reprinted since. Planeshift came out in 2001, meaning that card is already 20 years old. That's a long time to go without a reprint for a card that may actually be playable in certain builds. And when we look at EDHRec, we see it sees play in 25% of the Millicent, Restless Revenant Commander decks.

The price may dwindle a bit, but it will be worth something until it gets reprinted.

#3 Ritual of the Machine $25.44 (+127%)

Ritual of the Machine

This card sees some fringe play in Gonti, Lord of Luxury, Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker, and more recently also in Runo Stromkirk Commander decks. But to be honest, I doubt these decks are really the reason for this card to jump up as much as it did. When we inspect it we notice it is on the Reserved List, meaning no more copies will enter the market ever. These cards are known to be more easily manipulated.

Since it jumped it over 100% without any good reason, I suspect a targeted buyout on this card driving up the price.

#4 Guildpact Informant $2.96 (+119%)

Guildpact Informant

A common from War of the Spark going up with over 100%! However, that's still only slightly over a dollar, it is noticeable. The card sees play in Toxrill, the Corrosive Commander decks, a creature we have discussed earlier the past weeks in our Weekly Winners. When Toxrill has triggered its end-step ability at least once, and your opponent's creatures have slime counters, you can start attacking with Guildpact Informant and proliferating those counters. This way you will speed up the process of them dying to them with Toxrill's static ability.

Usually it's quite hard to let commons spike, but keep in mind that this particular one wasn't printed in the War of the Spark main set, but only in the Jace Intro Deck. This means there are far less copies available than you'd expect from regular commons in that set.

It was also mentioned by the Oathbreaker Community that this card sees some play in their format. The Oathbreaker format is a Commander-inspired format where each 60 card singleton deck is led by a Planeswalker designated as that deck’s Oathbreaker. Each deck has a Signature Spell that falls within the Oathbreaker’s color identity. Both of these cards reside in the command zone.

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past 7 years. Many cards have been even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.
