Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 Cool but Rude $18.61 (+167%)

This red Class enchantment from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set has been one of the more talked-about cards since prerelease events kicked off. It's easy to see why. At level one it gives you a free loot whenever you attack, level two punishes your opponents for every discard trigger you generate, and leveling up to three lets you Gamble.

That's a lot of functionality packed into a single card, and players across multiple formats have taken notice. Standard Izzet Lessons and Rakdos Discard builds have both been experimenting with it, and Commander players are finding plenty of homes for it as well.

The combo angle has added extra fuel to the price movement. With Cool but Rude at level two, pairing it with Necrodominance lets you draw a large number of cards in one shot, converting each discard into two damage to each opponent. It's not the most streamlined combo in Modern, but it's caught enough attention to push demand noticeably higher. For a card that covers looting, damage, and a built-in tutor all on its own, the interest makes a lot of sense, even setting the combo aside entirely.

#2 Vexilus Praetor $32.63 (+80%)

Protection effects for commanders are always in demand, and Vexilus Praetor does something that most of its competitors simply don't. While Bastion Protector and Mithril Coat are the more commonly played alternatives, neither of them makes your commander unblockable. Protection from everything does. That extra distinction makes Vexilus Praetor particularly appealing in Voltron-style decks where dealing combat damage is the whole game plan, and the flash ability gives it an added layer of utility by letting you drop it in response to a removal spell.

The card comes exclusively from the Forces of the Imperium Commander precon out of Universes Beyond: Warhammer 40,000, which keeps the ceiling on available copies relatively low. That limited print run has contributed to a notable price increase over recent weeks as more Commander players have rediscovered what this Custodes Warrior brings to the table. The surge foil version from the Collector's Edition has climbed even higher, with very few listings available at any given time. Given its Universes Beyond origins and its very specific flavor as the only Custodes creature in the game, finding a natural reprint slot for this would be a challenge.

#3 Flash Photography $99.99 (+136%)

Clone effects have always had a home in Commander, and Flash Photography from the Commander: Final Fantasy Holiday Release brings enough extras to the table to stand out from the crowd. Copying any permanent rather than just creatures opens up plays that a regular Clone can't offer, whether that's doubling up on a mana-generating land or making a second copy of a powerful enchantment. The ability to cast it at instant speed when targeting your own permanents adds a layer of flexibility that control and combo players appreciate, and flashback means you get to run it back for a second copy effect later in the game.

The card's exclusivity to the Camp Comrades Scene Box has kept supply limited since its release late last year, and consistent demand has been quietly chipping away at that supply ever since. There's no single new commander or combo driving this spike. The price has simply been climbing as more players recognize what the card is capable of. Token doubler shells, Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer builds, and commanders that reward copying permanents repeatedly have all found uses for it, and the low play count likely reflects how few players have had the chance to get their hands on a copy rather than any lack of interest in the card itself.

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past seven years. Many cards were even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.

Avenging Hunter $3.99 - Moving up!

Avenging Hunter has been identified by the MTGStocks Premium Penny Stocks feature as a card that has reached its bottom and is starting a consistent uptrend.

Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer $5.99 - Moving down

Avatar Aang $5.10 - Moving down

Premodern is increasingly making prices move. But since today is Lorwyn Eclipsed release, we'll also see spikes because of that.

Not unsurpsingly Lorwyn Eclipsed is making the market move. And just like last week it mainly seems to come from the precons which seems to be very popular.
