Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 Sergeant John Benton $9.69 (+2669%)

Sergeant John Benton from Universes Beyond: Doctor Who has climbed significantly this week. This legendary Human Soldier has trample and haste, but the real appeal is the share intelligence ability. Whenever Benton connects with a player, both you and that player draw cards equal to the damage dealt. For a three-mana 2/4 with trample, that's a solid stream of cards.

The card works particularly well in decks that want to play politics at the Commander table. You get to choose who benefits from the card draw, meaning you can direct your attacks toward opponents who aren't threatening your board state. Pair Benton with pump spells and the value multiplies quickly. A simple Invigorate or Giant Growth can turn into drawing several cards while keeping the damage flowing.

What makes this spike interesting is how under-the-radar Benton has been since the Universes Beyond: Doctor Who release. The card has solid applications beyond just Group Hug strategies. Voltron builds can leverage the damage-to-cards conversion, and decks running Nekusar, the Mindrazer or similar punisher effects turn that "symmetrical" draw into additional damage. Cards like Alms Collector can break the symmetry entirely, letting you draw while your opponent gets nothing.

#2 Faces of the Past $14.16 (+293%)

Scourge gave us a lot of underappreciated gems, and Faces of the Past is one of them. This blue enchantment has been trending upward recently, and the reason ties back to Ashling, the Limitless from Lorwyn Eclipsed, which has quickly become one of the most popular Elemental commanders around. The synergy between the two is straightforward: whenever you sacrifice an elemental through Ashling's evoke ability, Faces of the Past triggers and untaps all your other creatures that share that type.

That might sound simple, but the implications run deep. Elementals have access to some excellent mana dorks, most notably Flamebraider and Smokebraider, which tap for two mana each that can be spent on Elemental spells and costs. Repeatedly untapping those after each evoke trigger lets you chain through your deck at impressive speed, especially when you layer in Elementals that replace themselves with card draw like Mulldrifter.

The card has even found its way into combo territory, with Grave Sifter creating a loop alongside Ashling and a couple of mana dorks that generates infinite untap triggers and opens the door to some very fatal finishes.

#3 Warmth $4.33 (+191%)

Premodern has been gaining serious momentum as a format, and that rising tide is lifting some very old cards along with it. Warmth from Tempest has seen a significant increase recently, with the black-bordered Tempest printing leading the charge while the white-bordered Classic Sixth Edition version has been slower to follow. That gap makes sense to anyone familiar with the collector preferences of the Premodern crowd, where the original black-bordered printings tend to be the more desirable copies.

The card itself is well-established sideboard tech against red strategies, gaining you two life whenever an opponent casts a red spell. In a format where Sligh and Goblin decks are among the most popular aggressive strategies, a cheap enchantment that punishes every red spell your opponent casts can swing a game in a hurry. 9833 isn't a new discovery by any means, but as more players build out their Premodern collections and round out their sideboards, cards like this one are getting a second look.

Warmth hasn't seen a reprint since Sixth Edition, meaning both available printings are now decades old. For a card that fills a genuine sideboard role in a growing format, that kind of limited availability means even modest increases in demand can push the price noticeably. The Tempest version in particular has responded strongly to that pressure.

Not unsurpsingly Lorwyn Eclipsed is making the market move. And just like last week it mainly seems to come from the precons which seems to be very popular.
