This week showed a lot of big movers and huge spikes, but will they still have their value at the end of next week?

Sygg, River Cutthroat has spiked this week, and fell back in the days after. But the big question for this card is a simple why? Some people say people are betting on Merfolks in Modern. But that archetype doesn't have much tournament winning decklists to really prove it's potency. And the lists on paper or MTGO that are successfull and run Sygg, run it only once. But I do need to add that Merfolk is a rather low-budget way to get started and it's a fun deck to play. Also check out #3: Silvergill Adept for more on this.
One could imagine that Sygg, River Cutthroat is a nice card to have when your opponent has got a Dark Confidant. But only when he draws a card that is CMC 3 or more. And that might just be too conditional.
To me, Sygg, River Cutthroat is a speculation that Merfolk might get big and therefore people are buying merfolk that seem interesting. I think Sygg, River Cutthroat won't be able to retain it's value.
Wound Reflection looks like a classic buyout. Two days ago there was little stock for this card and as I am writing this only 9 stores have this card available at this time. Most of them have a handful of copies, only one is topping a stock of 10 right now.
A Reddit discussion points to Mogis, God of Slaughter, a card spoiled for BOTG. With both in play you can punish your EDH opponents for not sacrificing a creature every turn. Meaning that they have to play a creature every singe turn, just for feeding it to Mogis.
Wound Reflection lost value right after it's initial spike. It's hard to say if a second spike is coming our way. Wound Reflection is a typical low value rare that you might have lying around somewhere in mint condition. By itself, it only has (though limited) casual multiplayer appeal. But combo it with Mogis and it becomes more interesting. It might be possible that people tried to sell their shoebox copy to their LGS, in the hopes of getting some money out of it. A increase in supply can drop the price. One big sidenote: this spike looks like a buyout, and in that case there might be too little demand for this card. Choose wisely!
Silvergill Adept is not the traditional hype-spike. It's increasing in value slightly every day, and now it's really getting somewhere.
