All hail our Lobster overlord who's again making an appearance this week. Standard rotation is also driving prices.

Like every week, just in time for FNM, I'll tell you about the Magic: the Gathering cards that'll be the talk of the town tonight! Come discuss this week's price movements with us on Discord.

Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 Legion Extruder $9.69 (+544%)

This artifact from Outlaws of Thunder Junction: The Big Score has shot up this week, and honestly, it's a bit of a surprise. For the longest time since its release, Legion Extruder was collecting dust in everyone's bulk box. Pretty sure most people didn't even know it was in there, writing it off as a mediocre sacrifice engine that turns artifacts into 3/3 Golems for two mana. While that's not terrible, it wasn't exactly setting the world on fire either.

The reason for the spike is the new Food-matters commander from Edge of Eternities that we've been seeing more of lately. Ragost, Deft Gastronaut has been causing all sorts of movement in artifact-based cards. If you're a regular reader of the Weekly Winners, you probably remember us talking about Ragost just last week when we covered Astrid Peth. Adam also just released his Hidden Gems for Ragost, Deft Gastronaut article, which has players scrambling to find synergistic pieces for their new Lobster overlord.

While Extruder doesn't perfectly align with Ragost's sacrifice-heavy game plan, it does provide a steady stream of artifact tokens that can feed into the commander's engine when needed.

Besides that I've been coming across this card in Standard on Arena as well. People are experimenting with this card in decks that want to make Meteor Tokens to deal damage along with Weapons Manufacturing. Interesting deck and a new archetype within the still evolving meta.

#2 Debt of Loyalty $47.00 (+389%)

This white instant from Weatherlight has been moving up this week, and if you know anything about Reserved List cards, you know the supply is really low and no copies will ever get added. Debt of Loyalty gives a creature regeneration, and if it actually regenerates, you get to steal it permanently. For three mana, that's absolutely insane when it works. The card essentially turns a board wipe, removal spell, or even a simple block into a Mind Control effect, letting you steal the biggest threat on the battlefield.

The reason for the recent spike seems to be players finally discovering just how versatile the card really is. While it's been legal in Commander since the format was created, Debt of Loyalty doesn't see a lot of play, which kind of surprised me, although I don't think I have ever consciously seen this card. Whether it maintains its momentum depends on how many players actually start putting it in their decks. The effect is powerful enough to warrant inclusion in most white Commander builds, especially those running fewer colors where the flexibility matters more.

With more content creators starting to highlight forgotten Reserved List gems, don't be surprised if Debt of Loyalty continues climbing as players realize they've been sleeping on legitimate game-changing tech that costs less than a modern staple.

#3 Shoot the Sheriff $7.67 (+667%)

This black instant from Outlaws of Thunder Junction has been... shooting... up this week. For two mana at instant speed, Shoot the Sheriff destroys any non-outlaw creature, which used to be a pretty significant downside when the format was dominated by those creature types. But with the recent Standard rotation shaking things up, Outlaws have fallen out of favor, making this restriction not really matter anymore.

Standard rotation has completely changed what removal spells are viable. While cards like Bitter Triumph force you to pay life or discard, and Feed the Cycle makes you forage unless you pay extra, Shoot the Sheriff gives you clean, almost unconditional removal for just two mana. The card has found its way into Dimir and Golgari Midrange lists, and even Esper Pixie decks are running copies. When you look at the current top-tier Standard decks, there are only about five creatures that Sheriff can't hit, and most of those aren't even must-kill targets.

What's really driving the price movement is how perfectly this card slots into the current metagame. Besides Standard, it's seeing play in Modern Dimir Frog lists and even some Legacy decks, proving the card is strong enough for eternal formats when the restriction doesn't matter. The card went from around thirty cents to moving over three dollars, and with these uncommons being surprisingly hard to find these days, don't expect this trend to reverse anytime soon. That is, unless we see a bunch of outlaw-creatures in the upcoming Standard sets.

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past seven years. Many cards were even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.

Aven Interrupter $4.26 - Moving up!

Aven Interrupter has been identified by the MTGStocks Premium Penny Stocks feature as a card that has reached its bottom and is starting a consistent uptrend.

Culling Ritual $1.00 - Moving up

Tarmogoyf $7.58 - Moving down
