Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 On the Trail $8.48 (+208%)

This enchantment has been moving up the past couple of days, and moving up quickly. It lets you put extra lands onto the battlefield whenever you draw your second card each turn. This isn't an unknown card in Commander. It's already seen some play in various decks around Sophia, Dogged Detective and Morska, Undersea Sleuth, which isn't all too surprising since they're in the same Deep Clue Sea precon. It's also a popular addition in decks around Bonny Pall, Clearcutter and Sergeant John Benton.

Mr. Foxglove

But now let's look at what happened to the price this past week. As expected, Bloomburrow has been the driver of this spike, with Ms. Bumbleflower (Borderless) becoming one of the most popular commanders in the set. Since she can let you draw extra cards, On the Trail can then give you extra lands. Josh Lee Kwai recently played On the Trail to great effect in his Ms. Bumbleflower deck on the most recent episode of Game Knights, and this is surely contributing to the renewed interest in the card. In the same set we also see Mr. Foxglove and Flubs, the Fool (Extended Art), which also work very well with this enchantment.

Both Ms. Bumbleflower and Mr. Foxglove can be found in the Peace Offering precon.

#2 Caretaker's Talent $8.08 (+370%)

This new enchantment from Bloomburrow may be one of the more overlooked cards in the set. As with all Class enchantments, you can level it up by paying the cost. And the type of decks you'll most likely find this in is pretty obvious: tokens. It can draw you cards, it can copy a token, and it can buff your tokens on the battlefield.

It started preselling pretty high at $20, but quickly dwindled down to about a dollar. But around set release people started to realize how good this card will be in their decks. There are plenty of commanders in the color identity that care about tokens, such as Kambal, Profiteering Mayor and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. But in Bloomburrow itself we'll also find new commanders that care about tokens, like Finneas, Ace Archer and Baylen, the Haymaker

And while we're on the subject of these "Talents," we're also seeing Fortune Teller's Talent spike compared to yesterday. It's jumped 617% to $9.61. This Talent obviously doesn't belong in a token deck, but it does show that this enchantment also seems to be overlooked when the set first got previewed. Casting spells from the top of your library is pretty good, and in the right deck can provide a lot of card advantage and synergy. A commander where this Talent would work pretty well with is Kellan, the Kid.

#3 Wildfire Awakener $2.99 (+202%)

Oh, look, a card spiking because of Bloomburrow! When we read this Human Wizard we see that it can create 1/1 Elemental tokens that deal one damage to a player when tapped. As we've already discussed in the previous winner, new commanders have been printed that care about tokens.

But there's one new commander in particular that has great synergy with Wildfire Awakener, and that's Baylen, the Haymaker. Baylen not only cares about tokens, but wants to tap them for value, like extra mana, cards, or +1/+1 counters. But if we can tap tokens, get the value, and deal a bunch of damage in the process, that seems pretty good.

Also later in the game we can use the tokens we already have to help cast Wildfire Awakener through Convoke and basically double up on the amount of tokens we have.

#4 Patchwork Banner $3.53 (+197%)

And finally, let's discuss this uncommon from Bloomburrow, which has quickly been ramping up in price. It works in typal decks with any color identity, since it's a colorless artifact. It's both an anthem effect and a mana rock, and is going to be an automatic include in a lot of decks that care about a single creature type, and there are a lot of Commander decks are a built around a creature type.

I expect demand to be rather high for this card, but since it's also an uncommon, and Bloomburrow is likely to be opened a lot due to its popularity, it's hard to say where this price is going to end up.

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past seven years. Many cards were even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.

Centurion of the Marked (Showcase) $4.79 - Moving up!

Centurion of the Marked (Showcase) has been identified by the MTGStocks Premium Penny Stocks feature as a card that has reached its bottom and is starting a consistent uptrend.
