No, No, No! I'm not going to talk about how Smuggler's Copter nearly doubled in price to $17! Ok, ok, so agro performed very well week one of new Standard, but that was expected. Right? Let's talk about this week in Magic.
Well, here I am talking about how Smuggler's Copter is a $17 card. Honestly, I didn't expect it to get this high, and DEFINETLY didn't expect it to maintain a full week. As of this writing, Smuggler's Copter, a rare, is the 4th most expensive card in Kaladesh. Wow. Is Copter good? Of course. Is it great? Yeah! Is it's worth $17? Only time will tell.
Let's talk about a card I think is really cool. Aether Hub saw a pretty big gain this week, and I think this card can easily stay above $3 in the future. It's a Tendo Ice Bridge (a $9 card) that contributes to some very powerful plays, like what I plan on doing with it and Aetherworks Marvel (shhh.) If energy will ever be a thing in the distant future, this will be one land you can't do without!
Scrapheap Scrounger is on a gradual rise, but this card is deep! It might seem like a lackluster card outside of specific decks, but it's a recurable threat. True, it can't block, but who needs to block when you're beating face?
It's foil time, and man did this first one blow my socks off. Foil Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is $52! Stop what you're doing now, and go look for yours! 7th Edition Birds of Paradise just passed the $350 mark, even though it's not the best art (haha.) My foil Life from the Loam copies are $84 each now, and that makes me very happy. Finally, if you need a reason to open Conspiracy: Take the Crown, look no further than Leovold, Emissary of Trest. A $150 foil that's probably not likely to stray too far from the $100 mark.
Want to know what cards to pick up while they are cheap? Look no further than the Planeswalkers of Kaladesh! All four are at their lowest point since spoiled. Chandra, Torch of Defiance has reached her lowest, but I think she will bottom out a bit more before flat lining. Nissa, Vital Force has been doing the best price-wise, but it seems like a decent time to pick up your copies of Planeswalkers for your casual or competitive decks.
