The Fallout set has been hitting the market, and it shows. Most cards are moving because of cards from there. Oh yeah, and we have Bobbleheads!

Like every week, just in time for FNM, I'll tell you about the Magic: the Gathering cards that'll be the talk of the town tonight! Come discuss this week's price movements with us on Discord.

Onto the Weekly Winners!

#1 Lumbering Megasloth $10.00 (+1415%)

Who of you had a Sloth Mutant on their list of breakout cards from the Universes Beyond: Fallout? Lumbering Megasloth has gone sky high this past week from just a dollar to over ten. Let's start by talking about this creature a little bit. For 10 and you have an 8/8 trampler that enters the battlefield tapped. But the Sloth cares about counters on permanents, since those make it cheaper. For each counter on any permanent or player, it will become cheaper, meaning that you can cast it for as little as two green mana.

So now we need a way to quickly have a lot of counters on the battlefield. The Legacy format has you covered! Just play your Dark Depths for your land drop, and now you have 20 counters on the battlefield. The only problem now is that the Depths won't help you cast the Sloth Mutant, but fortunately we can always play Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth for a potential 8/8 on turn 2. Funny thing is that Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth had a similar function in a combo with Dark Depths. Then you would cast Vampire Hexmage for , which you could sacrifice to remove all counters from the Depths, making a 20/20 indestructible flyer.

#2 Danny Pink $7.43 (+271%)

Danny, from the Universes Beyond: Doctor Who set, has been climbing the past week. For you have a 4/3 Human Soldier that gives creatures an extra ability. Whenever one or more counters are placed upon that creature for the first time each turn, you get to draw a card. Card advantage, as many Magic players are aware, is the key to winning a game. When you're able to draw more cards than your opponents, you get to play more spells and more options to deal with the current board state.

It seems like Danny is becoming more popular because of The Wise Mothman. The Mothman tries to put counters on your creatures, and those can in turn benefit you when you have Danny in play. Last week we talked about Mesmeric Orb moving up as well because of the Mothman's popularity, and this week we see more cards moving up for this reason:

#3 Comet, Stellar Pup $28.99 (+137%)

This planeswalker from Unfinity has actually been showing up in Legacy since it was printed. It's result is always random, since rolling a die is a very high variance mechanic, but none of the outcomes are particulary bad. Being able to make two blockers and getting to seven loyalty will make this planeswalker hard to kill. Returning a cheap permanent to your hand, especially in a format where there are a lot of Fetchlands, can be a good way to generate card advantage. The damage ability can kill some problematic creatures or deal the last bits of damage needed to your opponent. And finally, being able to get two more chances to hit the above effects can really drive it home. But there's always the chance you won't hit the abilities you need at that particular moment, which can be frustrating.

However, it seems like this card is now mainly getting traction because it rolls dice, and that fits pretty well with the new Fallout commander Mr. House, President and CEO, who cares about rolling dice.

Bobbleheads

All seven of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Bobbleheads have been moving up this week. On first sight they're just another mana rock, but they can all do something... special. All of them could've been bought for about a dollar, but now they'll fetch a lot more. The Strength version seems to have gone up the most with about 719%, while Charisma only went up 161%.

There are a few too many to get into detail, but these mana rocks all have another activated ability that gets more powerful depending on the amount of different Bobbleheads you control. This means that you most likely want to play multiple to have a better effect.

Perception Bobblehead
Endurance Bobblehead
Charisma Bobblehead
Intelligence Bobblehead
Agility Bobblehead

Cheap Pickups

Please note: for our 'record low' we consider the price of the card over the past seven years. Many cards were even cheaper (a) decade(s) ago. Also note: some cards are still going down, and might be even cheaper pickups next week.

Darkness $3.78 - Moving up!

Darkness has been identified by the MTGStocks Premium Penny Stocks feature as a card that has reached its bottom and is starting a consistent uptrend.

Scrounging Deathclaw - Tarmogoyf (Showcase) $8.00 - Stabilizing
