Weekly Winners (44)

This week was not all that interesting finance wise. Sadly, not many movers that really matter. We mainly see a lot of old Legends and Arabian Nights cards on the move. But have no fear, I still have a few winners for you! Soonce again, I present you the cards that will be the talk of the town tonight.

#1 Collective Voyage +374.4% ($25.38)

Collective Voyage

Collective Voyage is a card that seems to have simply been bought out. Of course it's a fun card in any multiplayer type, and I can imagine the card is fun to play in EDH and other casual kitchen table formats. People have been experimenting with it in Legacy Nic-Fit lists with little success. However, recently, it appeared as a 2-off in a decklist that reached the 7th place in the SCG Invitational Qualifier, where Christopher O'Berry piloted his Eldrazi mono-green deck.

The thing is, if Christopher's decklist is the reason why Collective Voyage was bought out, why aren't any of the other cards in his list?

#2 City in a Bottle +307.5% ($50.00)

City in a Bottle

Yes, City in a Bottle is a real weekly winner! The reason for this price jump is the 93/94 format which is gaining popularity. Within this format, only cards printed in seven sets are allowed: Alpha Edition, Beta Edition, Unlimited Edition, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends and The Dark.

What I am wondering when it comes to cards like this is, except for nostalgy and collection reasons, why would you want to pay these ridiculous prices for otherwise unplayable cards? Is 93/94 the new Tiny Leaders? Do most of us even remember what Tiny Leaders is? It was the hype over half a year ago, driving up prices of unplayable cards.

#3 Secure the Wastes +25.7% ($3.96)

Secure the Wastes

Almost $4 isn't very expensive for a Magic card, but this one seems to have some potential, since it's widely played in Standard. We see appearances of the card in Esper lists, Jeskai lists and Bant. The card is quickly gaining value, and the rise seems to be organic rather than market manipulation.

During the Grand Prix Quebec, Shahar Shenhar piloted his Bant deck to a 13th place with Secure the Wastes as a 3-off. The card was also seen in three decks in the top 16 at SCG Premier IQ, in Esper and Jeskai lists. The potential of this card is clear in Standard, but I don't see a lot of implications for the card in eternal formats.

Cheap Pickups

Tarmogoyf

Tarmogoyf

Still one of the most expensive cards in Modern and Legacy, but it seems to be going down. We already reported on Tarmogoyf last week, but it has dipped even a little more.

Wasteland

Wasteland

Wasteland has been over its peak for quite some time now, and seems steady with a very slow decline in price. Keep an eye out for them.

Swords to Plowshares

Thoughtseize

Thoughtseize

Thoughtseize seems to be going down. Just wait for these a bit longer, think they'll come down some more.

Terminus

Terminus

Terminus is getting very close to its All Time Low price. With Dig Through Time banned in Legacy, I expect more people to be playing Miracles.
