The spike seems to be a result of a speculator buyout. The card sees play in both Modern and Legacy, and it has a unique ability. But a $40 pricetag does seem a tad steep for a card that does not see that much play in those formats. It is mainly a sideboard card. There have been rumors though. Some people are brewing a All-In-Red Modern deck that can put down
How strong these rumors are, I don't know. I do know that an All-In-Red deck reached the top 16 of the GP Las Vegas. But interestingly enough, it did not run
